Virtual CloneDrive works in Windows Vista, as you can see below.

Now I can start using the ISO images I made before.

After defragging the disc where I have Windows Vista installed it now takes only 38 seconds until the login appears and a total of 45 seconds to show the desktop.

I forgot to add that I have allready installed Microsoft Office 2000.

I have read that M$ is stopping it's beta program much sooner than expected.

It seems that they are near the max number of keys they created for this.

With 1200+ reads, i wonder if ATS didn't have something to do with the high numbers they dealt with-we ARE over 50K strong!

Then you better start downloading it, if you haven't done it yet.

Joining this thread with the IE 7 Beta 3 thread, I may say that IE 7 is much more stable under Vista than on XP.

I have installed SQL 2005 Express Edition and Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition, both free downloads from Microsoft.

SQL 2005 Express Edition instalation said that there was a imcompatibility issue and was needed the SQL 2005 Express Edition SP1. That installed without a problem.

Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition is clearly faster on Vista than on XP.

UT 2004 also works well, I will try to benchmark it and make a comparison with Windows XP.

I used the same folder for the Vista installation, so the disk access is the on both versions of Windows on my computer.

Edit:

Benchmark results:

- Windows Vista -
UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2005-02-15_17.02]
Windows NT 6.0 (Build: 5384)

Rig #1
P4 3.4ghz prescott
Asus p4p800 mb
2gig Corsair ProSeries ddr 500 ram
bfg 6800gt oc vid
SbLive 4 SoundCard
2x 74gig Sata raptors raided Striped
250gig Sata Storage.

Only Drivers i had to install was sound and vid, both beta's so that could have been a problem.
Clean Fresh Load
Only Software was firefox, all the macromedia progs(dreamweaver, flash, director, fireworks)World of Warcraft , Teamspeak, Ventrillo, Steam, Adobe progs(photoshop7, premiere, acrobat 7 pro)and Sisoft Sandra. I posted about the CA Antivirus that was recommend bringing main system to screeching halt. didnt install it on rig2

Rig #2
P4 3.0ghz
1gig Corsair Pro Series ddr 400
MSI 875p Neo-fisr2 mb
radeon x800xt vid
sblive value sound
74gig sata raptor c
3x250 sata storage

Dualboot load and even less software installed
Firefox, Serv-u-FTP
Drivers for TV Card and vid, both beta's

Both Machines were stuck in a file access loop crash after 3 days of steady use. Hit ok send it, explorer crash and do it all over again, hit dont send, explorer crash and all over again. Attempted repair installs on both and same problem upon boot.

I use both these rigs religiously so an unstable platform to play with just aint do able at the present moment. I have ghost images of both machines at pristine condition so reload took all of 10mins to be back up and runnin. I just got my MCE machine back up and runnin also. so now i have another box that isnt crucial and i will have more time to load it and tweak it and play with it without sweatin losing work time.

I also build all my own pc's and have for bout 20yrs. Its also my current income so its not a hardware thing. Im leaning heavily towards driver corruption.

The spare box has onboard nvidia vid, sound and nforce chipset with an amd x64 processor so we will see how that runs it driver-wise.

I lost alotta my hardware (amongst dam near everything else) in an apartment fire a few months ago , so im slowly rebuilding the bank of processing power...
