Isn't it obvious he's just positioning himself to replace Peter Boyle as the next Alka Seltzer spokesman?

"I can't believe I ate the whole thing!"

I have eaten my placenta and it tasted ok. I was extremely iron deficent and vegetarian so it would have taken a lot of food/ time to get my levels back up. Hence I ate my placenta. I actually had a weird canine craving for it after the birth!!! I Stir fried it and it tasted like beef. eating the cord is gross - so I skipped on that as it is very grissly. My iron levels were back up in 2 weeks.

All my friends and family were HORRIFIED that I had eaten my placenta. However - they are all meat eaters and god only knows what parts of animals thay are eating (pigs arses, crushed bones, etc.). At least I knew my placenta was ORGANIC and home reared!!!!

However - Tom is beong selfish eating the placenta and not giving it to his wife. No amount of persausion would have convinced my hubby to try my stir fry. Google placenta recipes - there are many to choose from. I took my time deciding. Recommend garlic and ginger and coriander.

Most people will feel grossed out by my post - but I am grossed out that people eat sausages.

has anyone brought up the fact that he may just be screwing around by saying that he wanted to eat that? he knows how much people crave him to do wacky things so he might just be catering to the tabloid lovers. i hope he is lying about it just to show how gullible people can be. if he isn't lying i really don't see a problem with eating it. all religions have their fair share of strange practices.

Really, most people who choose to be famous and in the public eye are egotists who thrive on the attention of others. Just like a toddler, negative attention is just as good as any attention. Perhaps he has a film out soon and wants to keep high in the public profile! There is a distinct difference in eating a placenta and advertising that you are gonna eat it.

In the old irish traditions, women either ate their placenta or they buried it for luck under a tree. It was unheard of to just discard it, as it had spiritual significance. Many women I know have had burial ceremonies for the placenta. (nutritious for the soil and a special tree is planted above for the child during a naming ceremony)

after my fifth birth the midwives refused to give me the placenta and said it was gross to want to take it home (i did not even mention eating it as the canine cravings were not paramount). they had sent it for insineration before I could protest. Strange how thay found it so offensive - but luckily I did not take it personally..to me it looked a fine specimen!

Perhaps next time I will pickle it in a jar and keep it for posterity!!

Incidently - placentas are very interesting to look at. quite incredible< and it is a shame that most women never get the chance to have a good old rummage though theirs.

He laughed pretty hard. Dr Teeter, a great guy!

You sound like my husband....cut the cord....my husband said "Oh # No!!" As in Not Just No! But HELL NO!!!
Sorry for the bad word, your post brought back memories from my past too!!!

Most hospitals keep the placenta and sell them right?

Anyways Scientology has really got Tom brainwashed i mean it seems as if his self-destructing. Note that he had an abusive father so he might of got with the program at an early age.

I remember wiht one of my birth my hubby cutting the cord with a pair of blunt scissors - it was more cringing and stomach- lurching than the birth itself!! LOL!!:

He Was Kidding

It was a joke.

Cruise, 43, told GQ: "I'm gonna eat the placenta. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I'm gonna eat the cord and the placenta right there." When it was pointed out that it would be a big meal, Cruise replied: "OK, maybe I won't."

Asked about the comments by ABC's Diane Sawyer, the star replied: "Yeah, we're going to do that - a whole family thing. Isn't that normal and natural? No, we're not eating it."

But most sites aren’t making note of the fact that Cruise was kidding.

And besides, even if he did eat it, it wouldn't have anything to do with Scientology.

The way I see this is that whether he was joking or not, stable people don't say these kind of things. I equate this to Mike Tyson saying he was going to eat Evander Holyfield's kids (or was it Lennox Lewis?).

Peace

Most meat looks disgusting before it is cooked.

You are forgetting - PLACENTA IS ONLY HUMAN MEAT. Why is that more disgusting than the meat form other animals!!! Surely PROCESSED meat is more disgusting???????

(Also to 'harvest' placenta nothing is killed!!!)

Actually the post before was right - hospitals DO TRADE with placentas - alot of it is used in the skin care industry. Is that not more gross - smearing the essence of SOMEONE ELSES placenta on your face.

Lysergic - I do not get it. I am not advocating Cannibalism - but placenta looks just like other meat! Why is it so disgusting??? It has come from inside a woman. (Would you be disgusted at the thought of being inside a woman???) People eat all kind of stuff - all kind of junk, inedible stuff, chickens that are fed dead birds, pigs that are fed mashed dead chicken, beef riddled with BSE. People eat pigs trotters, pigs heads........insects, raw fish, sperm. The list is endless. Is it only the meat from placenta that you find so revolting???

This is such an interesting thread - It is so strange that there are such ingrained notions on the whole idea of a placenta. Does anyone agree with me?? Or is it my belief that is weird?? I am not advocating everyones should eat their placenta - I just feel it is weird that meateaters think it more disgusting than meat!!!!

A pretty boy like Tom Cruise would never do this. He'll probably get a stunt-double and pass it off like it was him.

I can vouch for one thing - much better than spam - fried up with a selection of veg, noodles and coriander!. Spam would surely fall apart in the pan.

Of course Tom Cruise eats placenta. It's the staple diet of all Reptilians when babies are in short supply.

I heard that placenta is a common ingredient in conditioners, especially the deep intensive conditioners.
