Friday, 31 March 2006, a plane carrying four employees of the state-owned energy company, crashed just outside of Rio de Janeiro in a mountainous area. All four employees who were in the LET 410 lost their lives, as well as the crew members.

Another company director, Mauro Almeida, said it was the airline's first accident since it began operating in 2001. He said the pilot, Brazilian Michael Peter Hutten, had about 30 years of experience and was a former air force pilot.

Farias said the aircraft, which had a capacity to carry 19 passengers and two crew members, was at least five years old and had recently gone through a two-month routine maintenance. It also had been inspected by the aviation authority.

Four employees from Brazil's state-owned energy company, Petrobras, were among the victims, Farias said.

It seems South America is feeling the heat from the friction between socialism and capitalism.

This was a plane from a state owned and run company if I am correct. Does this mean capitalist interests were benefited by the destruction of this aircraft? I would like to know who the employes actually were. Were they high level officials, or welders?

From your Yahoo source:

Four employees from Brazil's state-owned energy company Petrobras were among the victims, airline director David Farias said, adding that none were high-ranking officials.

This was my first news submition. My original first paragraph was too biased and I had to change it, then someone else changed it. Then I recieved two no votes because this isnt part of atsnn topics.

I just thought that energy officials from a socialist state owned energy company who die in a plane crash might be interesting.

But then I missed the yahoo part about them not being high level officials. I wonder if yahoo edited their news story or if I blew it.

This was my first news submition and I will work hard to do a better job in the future.
