Just one other option to keep in mind if they did try to set him up -- he may have been a royal pain in the a** to work with. In that situation, they couldn't can him because they'd be called racists, so they had to get him to remove himself. Dunno if this is the case, but I doubt you do, either. Thanks to diversity training, afirmative action, and other such problems, firing a minority, especially one in the public eye, is next to impossible unless they publically destroy themselves. As long as its kept private, that person could be the biggest scum bag in the world and they'd have to keep him on.
