A 73-year-old Kenyan grandfather was attacked by a leopard. He said he heard a voice in his head "which must have come from God". The voice told him
to drop his machette and trust his hand into the leopards mouth and pull its tongue out. "I obeyed", he said. He was toasted as a hero in his
village after this incident and was also given free hospital treatment.
Tiscali News: Kenyan grandfather, 73, kills leopard with hands
23/06/2005
A 73-year-old Kenyan grandfather reached into the mouth of an attacking leopard and tore out its tongue to kill it, authorities said on Wednesday.
Peasant farmer Daniel M’Mburugu was tending to his potato and bean crops in a rural area near Mount Kenya when the leopard charged out of the long
grass and leapt on him.
M’Mburugu had a machete in one hand but dropped that to thrust his fist down the leopard’s mouth. He gradually managed to pull out the animal’s
tongue, leaving it in its death-throes.
"It let out a blood-curdling snarl that made the birds stop chirping," he told the daily Standard newspaper of how the leopard came at him and
knocked him over.
The leopard sank its teeth into the farmer’s wrist and mauled him with its claws. "A voice, which must have come from God, whispered to me to drop
the panga (machete) and thrust my hand in its wide open mouth. I obeyed," M’Mburugu said.
M’Mburugu was toasted as a hero in his village Kihato after the incident earlier this month. He was also given free hospital treatment by astonished
local authorities.

Its lucky the animal did´nt hear a voice in its head saying "thrust your paw into grandpa´s mouth", or this guy would have lost his false teeth
!!!
What kind of force does it take to rip the tounge from the mouth of a big cat that weighs 180 or so kilos....is this guy taking steroids or
what...

"As the leopard was dying, a neighbour heard the screams and arrived to finish it off with a machete."
way to go gramps, but a healthy adult leopard can carry a kill in its jaws and climb a tree. They are incredible cats. This must have been a
youngster or a sick cat.....
en.wikipedia.org...
Attacks on humans
Leopards, despite their smaller size, are just as capable of killing humans as the larger cats. The Leopard of Rudraprayag is claimed to have killed
over 125 people and the Panar Leopard allegedly killed 400 after being injured by a poacher and thus unable to hunt normal prey. Both were eventually
killed by famed big cat hunter and author Jim Corbett.
Hunting with the Leopard, from a Stamp of Jean Stradan (Sixteenth Century).[edit]
Hunting techniques
The leopard is a highly successful predator that hunts a wider variety of prey than most other big cats. In much of its range in Africa it competes
with animals such as the Spotted Hyena and the lion for prey, and it is not uncommon for them to be chased away from their own kills by other top
predators. Leopards usually hunt at night, dawn, or dusk and will stalk their prey before they make the kill by biting the throat, essentially
suffocating their prey. They will almost always drag their prey up to the relative safety of a tree. Leopards have been observed carrying prey three
times their body weight into trees.

Valhall... too damn funny man.
WAY TOO DAMN FUNNY!
I would have been like "This leopard won't fool me with its psychic tricks! Put down my knife and feed myself TO YOU? Yeah, you wish Mr, Psychic
Leopard!"
Then I would have killed it with my knife (perhaps by pretending to be confused.. and forgetting to drop the knife while shoving it AND my hand down
its throat and lacerating its insides as much as possible for that moment before he sunk his teeth in to my elbow)...
.. and then come on ATS and talked about the "psychic leopard" that I killed.
"Only one of its kind.. here mounted on my wall so everyone can enjoy it now."

Whoa, what a story.
Most of us woulda probably just started hacking away with the machette, but that took some Balls to drop his only weapon and ram his hand into a mouth
full of teeth and tear out its tongue

Yea, and by hacking with the Machette you wouldnt do probably any serioius damage to the Leopard - well he could also use the machette to stab the
beast in her mouth.
Or maybe there wasnt 'nuff time for such machette slashing...

Anyone remember the story about the guy swimming in the Amazon who was attacked by an anaconda? The snake tried to choke him to death by wrapping
around his throat, so the guy bit down as hard as he could, and bit again, and again, and after a little while, managed to decapitate the snake using
his teeth.

the grandfather did not kill the leopard. A guy with a machette did
that said, the guys got guts, and I'm sure the leopard had never dealt with that defense technique before ! probably confused the cat more than
anything.
I just hope the local villagers stick with machettes in the future and don't put this in the leopard defense manual

Who cares if a guy with a machete killed him. The fact is that 73 yeard Old grandfather ripped out its tongue. Not exactly what you expect from a 73
year old.
