"Aruba official: Suspect confesses to killing teen"

"One of three young suspects arrested Thursday in the investigation into the disappearance of an Alabama teenager in Aruba has confessed to her murder, a senior police official said late Friday. The suspect has agreed to lead police to the body of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway, the police official said. Police did not say which of the three teenagers confessed..."


Man, I was hoping this wouldnt end this way. The killer will take the police to the body.

I thought this would be the outcome but you can always have hope.

I just switched over to CNN and the story is streaming across the bottom of the screen. The web page has a story as well.

Foxnews.com seems to have changed their story. About half an hour ago they ran the murder confession now it's

"One of three young men who took an Alabama teenager to the beach during a high school graduation trip to Aruba (search) said "something bad happened" to her, police said Friday."

Which is it ?

Is she dead or not. What story did fox change ?

Gotta go check it out myself.

I suspected it would end that way. She was friendly and naive, and broke one of the prime rules of being in a different area... stay with your group.

I'm sad for her parents. What a horrible thing to have happen to your child.

Fox earlier tonight ran that one of them confessed to murder now Fox is running "a bad thing happend" according to one of the three men which makes me think if the Fox story is truer than the murder confession that they were doing drugs she fatally OD'd and they hid her body since they got nervous.

Anyway I doubt she is still alive.

I have done alot of traveling and i have to agree with byrd, you never leave your group, and you sure dont go with some "new friends" anywhere. It is truly sad, she had her whole life in front of her and now it's over before it began, i hope the guy that did it is given a harsh sentence and i know im not going to aruba any time soon.

Maybe you are naive, who in their right mind would just up and leave with a bunch of unknown locals? She was most likely looking for something and thought she'd found it but, unfortunately, she found a bunch of animals instead. And on top of that where were the so-called chaperones? I tell you where they were, they were sitting in the same bar she was, drinking just like she was and because of that they didn't see her leave with a bunch of animals who did EXACTLY what animals do. It's sad she got killed but it is probably more naive to think she was completely innocent in all of this...

Blame the victim, blame the "chaperones" and when all else fails blame Byrd (for some strange reason).

I made the mistake of watching FOX NEWS for 5 minutes this week myself. The national commentary on this case is about the most disturbing pro- Nanny State knee jerk I've ever seen.

First of all, the words 18 year old and chaperone have no business in the same conversation. You want to know why young adults are naive? They have to leave the country to buy a beer.

Our coddling nanny state (which happens to be the same one that sends 18 year olds to Iraq) would be the appropriate place for America's displaced anger. Yet, I've seen calls for disallowing "unsupervised" international travel for citizens under 21. I've seen calls for forcing an extension of our drinking age to our citizens in other countries. I've frankly seen some of the most reactionary conservacrap I've ever seen over this one 18 year old adult (America calls a "child") that happened to get murdered on in island with a lower crime rate than America itself.

Meanwhile "back home" (where it's presumably safe): A murder is reported to the police every 29 minutes, a forcible rape every five minutes, a robbery every minute and an aggravated (serious) assault every 31 seconds.

Talk about a state media diversion.

Yeah, RR, your statement really grates on me. Of course she was involved in what happened to her - she left the bar. She was also probably so stinking drunk she didn't know up from down. Doesn't matter does it! Doesn't matter if she said let's go! or they took advantage of an unsober girl, long story is "something bad happened". <=== Real humans don't do that to other humans...whatever the "something" was.

P.S. I'm also very upset by this news. The alternative floating around, that maybe she'd been sold, may not have been a pretty thought but there are a lot of things you can get over when you're still breathing. I feel so bad for her parents.

This is just so sad. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child.
Even a grown-up child. I hope to God I never have to experience that.

This appears to be a totally bogus report at this moment, it's unclear if anything from the overnight AP report had any basis in reality.

What does appear true is that a sixth person was arrested in connection to the disappearance.

Yeah, I'm totally confused now. MSNBC is stating that the authorities are refusing to state she's dead or that murder is involved in the charges.

Well, I'm just as stumped as you now Valhall, now they're saying the additional arrest this morning had nothing to do with this case, so it seems it's quite difficult to get accurate news from Aruba...

Chaperones?? She was 18, are you aware of that? The last time I checked she is responsible for herself just like all other 18+ out there. Now if for someone strange reason she was 15 on a trip in a foreign country and this happened...then I would agree. But that's not the case.

She had no business being alone in the first place. Ever heard of the Buddy System? It's a great practice that I live by being that I live in BF eastern Europe. It's sad that this happened, I pray for the family and wish pain and suffering for the ones who done this act.

Next thing we know some stupid politicians are gonna try to push for US drinking age overseas and every other US law will be effective overseas aswell.

Yeah I agree about the 18 thing.

In fact, I myself traveled to Aruba when I was 18, and I did it on my own! I gambled in the casinos, drank a lot, and visited in the dance clubs, and survived to tell the tale!

After the few first days it did seem that the chances of finding her alive were slim but I had hoped like many for a happy ending. I hope they are able to find her remains so her parents can have closure. May she rest in peace.
