"The American Cancer Society estimates that in the United States in 2001, over 233,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 40,000 will die from this disease. In the United States, breast cancer accounts for 29% of all cancers in women. One woman out of eight will develop breast cancer sometime during her life. Although earlier detection results in higher cure rates, breast cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death of adult women under 54 years of age and the second most common cause after age 54."

Won't it be a great leap forward to wipe out 92% of all possible cases of breat cancer. High energy physics can provide that possibility.

Yes DrH, any reduction is breast cancer would be a great advance forward.
From Australia...

The pill reduces the risk of breast cancer for young women with a family history of the disease, Australian research suggests.
University of Melbourne researchers studied almost 2,000 women under the age of 40, including 1,156 breast cancer patients in Australia, Canada and the United States.

They found those with an inherited mutation in the BRCA1 gene - a known risk factor for early onset breast cancer - were about four times less likely to develop the disease if they were taking oral contraceptives.

The findings go against the researchers' original hypothesis that the pill would increase breast cancer in high-risk groups.
