Forced to eat explosives

Topic started on 21-2-2005 @ 08:28 AM by FlyersFan

Okay ... I'm not sure what to say about this.
The people in charge of these soldiers forced them
to eat plastic explosives. If this is representative
of the 'best of the best' in the Sri Lankan military,
it's no wonder they have had such a hard time
getting rid of pesky rebels and terrorists.
Not too bright.

I'm a fervent believer in "Don't ask someone to do something that you are not willing to try yourself".
Soooooo ...... I think its time the instructor had some C4 for breakfast !
Mindless, utterly mindless.

How can someone force another to do something that is knowingly harmful to oneself?

It's like the Jim Jones incident. All of them people were forced? to drink poisoned Kool-aid?

BULL!

The only way a person can be forced to eat explosives is for someone to hold the person down that's going to do the consuming and literally shove the material down their throats!

Forced to eat explosives my butt!

I wonder what the real story behind this story was..

Was he trying to prove they were safe? "They're only like 9% inedible plastic, the rest is naturally delicious RDX.."

Was he trying to discipline the troops? Push ups would have sufficed.

Were they trying a novel method of suicide bombing?

Could they be lying?

I'm having a hard time understanding why their CO would ask this of them, why they would listen, and why he ran away afterwards. He ran into the jungle??

Is this slapstick or drama, I can't tell.

That's pretty messed up. When I was doing some training putting together charges they messed with me pretty good. They took a lighter and put the flame directly on the C4 (I believe it was C4 but I'm not sure it had dupont labeling on it). I ran like a madman and they all laughed at me.

Who knows. They are in the military. They could have
been threatened with shooting for disobeying an order.
AND ... honestly ... do you think those soldiers really
knew it was harmful to eat it? Education isn't the
best over there.

I just found this story to be ... strange.

I think it's called abuse of power amongst other titles. How many other events along these crazy lines goes on elsewhere that we don't hear about.

How far does a soldier have to go, does he cease to become human and just becomes an expendable number?
