An awesome filesharing program.

Topic started on 16-1-2005 @ 08:00 PM by Hoppinmad1

I have been using filesharing programs for a long time. Practically since they came around. I have used many of them as they came available and deleted them usually very quickly. I just about gave up on them really because of the fake files made it terrible.

Well I went to download.com and decided to see what new ones were available. I downloaded ares as it had a 85 percent user satisfaction rating. That was with 3,500 or so feedbacks left too. Well to make a long story short this program is by far the best out there and I just wanted to make it known for those who don't have it. The speeds you can reach are unbelivable and it doesn't let people leech. If they set their upload speeds too low it stops all their downloads.

Almost every file I have seen on here is of high quality and not a bunch of advertising crap you are seeing now. I actually was downloading a 716,000 kilobyte file today. I was downloading it at 400 kbs for a long time and it actually touched over 500 serveral times. I have never seen speeds that fast on any filesharing. I do have fast cable but have had it before and it didn't work this good. Well I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do if you do download it. I highly reccomend it though.

Here is a link to download.com review and download link. That way you can take the other thousands of peoples word for it.

:: 500Kb/s! OMG. I've been using Ares for a while with 1Mb cable and the highest I ever got was about 60.

No, not the same one. I use both. They both have their different advantages, particularly in regards to availability of files.

I could not belive how fast it was going today and the other day. The file quality is so much better on this site and there are hardly any fakes whatsoever. I absolutly love it and couldn't suggest it enough. If I get a file with about 70 users I can download regularly in excess of 300 kbs. I do have 3.5mb cable though.

Just try it and see its free!

Seriously, HM1, you should do advertisements for Ares.

"Are you tired of slow download speeds and virus-filled progs from Kazaa?? Well, why not try Ares! I did, and now I get speeds of up to 500Kb/s, and completely virus-free!! Just try it and see. Its free! Listen to these testimonies..."

lol, just kidding with ya...

Yeah but you don't need to advertise when your not selling anything really. I am just happy at how much better it is than all the other crap that I have used.

Well, I think it's only a matter of time before it ends up just like all the rest. It's ok for now, but just wait until they realize they can make cash by putting spyware/adware in, like Limeshop (bundled with Limewire). Geez, took me half a night to get rid of that #e from my computer. This was before folks started realizing Limeshop was spyware and released removal tools.

And once it increases in popularity, it will start getting infested with viruses the same as Kazaa and all the rest. So use it while the goings good but keep your wits about you.

Another one to check out is DC++ (and DC++Stealth). I haven't used it/them but I hear they're pretty good.

Yeah I bought the pay version of limewire a long time ago to get rid of the ads. Limewire is crap now. I downoloaded a freeware version of it called aqualime that came available but the content that you find on there is all ads or fake or something or virus laden. I guess popularity and suckiness go hand in hand. I rember when kazaa was good but it got too popular.

I will thy the other your talking about. I am also interested in the personal firesharing programs. That way I could download something or my friends could then share it with each other privately on our own network. That would make it more secure and eliminate bad files.

Yeah, easy way to do that is get a free website with large upload quota, upload your files, create a link to it and tell your friends.

You can do it with bittorrent as well. Seed a torrent and then tell your friends where it is.

I just started using torrents. I never had messed with them too much because it takes so long to download large files. It is really better in alot of ways but worse in others. I will probably use a little of both for now.
