I thought this was creepy.

It is very interesting read and, if you have time to kill, is a very well written story. But please, keep in mind, this is a story. It was some guys way of simply getting his idea out and trying to get it made into a movie.
I will admit when I first got it ... I was thrown for a loop. It is very engrossing. Very conssuming, as I said, very well written. Give him some help getting known. Read this and comment to him. The more comments the better. He needs help. He does great work and I think he deserves what he is after.

a very Lovecraftian piece of prose.

t very much reminded me of "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski.
It has the same creepy, lost syndrome to it; yet it manages to stand all on its own, at the same time.

Sucked me into some reading for a while.

House of leaves but have not yet read it. Is it a short story or a novel ?
How is it published ...on its own or in a anthology....Didn't House of Leave form the basis of a film?

Another "Ted the caver"/"blairwitch" log style horror peice ! folk have so little imagination at times. A good read, well written, but not original.
Seems to go for the "Elaborate is better" approach, as if we'll think geez, its so intricate, it must be true! *rolls eyes*

Yeah, it is a novel. I liked it. Was a hard read tho ... very ... messed up ... ... good book tho.

Wasn't "Cold Creek Manor" based on "House of Leaves" ??

have read Lovecraft and that is a shame. Popular writers like King and Koontz may have a larger audiance but that doesn't make them better writers. (Look how many people eat at McDonald's ...doesn't mean the food is good only convienant.) David Schow and Robert Chambers are favorites of mine also.

Not enough people have heard of Lovecraft. He is an excellent writter.
I have such a range I read in I couldn't even imagine listing it all here. But it is nice to know I am not the only literate person left in this world.

I haven't gotten to Depraived yet. I love Anne Rice .... not a big King fan. Looking for a good read. Any suggestions?

Harold Schecter has a series of really good true crime books. Do prefer novels or short stories?

Try the "Hotter blood" anthologies "I shudder at your touch" and David Schow's "Seeing Red" or any of the fiction published by Chaosium especially the Hastur cycle. I also like Clark Ashton Smith's "Zothique" stories ...the "Hashish Eaters" was cool too. Oh and anything by Robert W Chambers too.

I will have to go and pick those up.
